Most UK employers only offer sick pay for a few months at most, and state benefits can be quite limited. Having your own plan ensures the mortgage and bills are always sorted, no matter how long your recovery takes.
How much does Income Protection cost?
Your premium depends on your health, whether you smoke, and the level of cover you need. Your job also plays a big part. Insurers usually group roles into four classes based on the daily risks you face:
Class 1
Office based roles, managers, and administrative staff.
Class 2
Skilled manual workers, shop workers, those who travel for business.
Class 3
Skilled trades like plumbers, teachers, and care workers.
Class 4
Heavier manual work such as construction, mechanics, or bar work.
Because some jobs carry a higher risk of injury, those in Class 4 may pay a little more than those in Class 1. We will work with you to find the best value option for your specific trade.
